María Galiana

The film centers on a Spanish tapas bar and the love lives of the loosely interconnected people in the neighborhood surrounding the bar. The pairs of lovers include a middle aged woman and a young man; an elderly, drug dealing woman and her terminally ill husband in poor health; the tapas bar owner and his estranged wife; and two Chinese immigrants.

Maria ist 35, einsam und verbittert. Sie lebt allein in einer heruntergekommenen Wohnung in der Vorstadt von Sevilla. Als ihr mürrischer Vater, von dem sich vor Jahren abgewandt hat, im örtlichen Krankenhaus behandelt wird, zieht ihre Mutter für ein paar Tage bei ihr ein. Zwei grundverschiedene Welten prallen aufeinander. Doch langsam nähern sich die Frauen an und mit Hilfe der sanftmütigen Frau und ihres allein stehenden Nachbarn schöpft Maria neuen Lebensmut.
